Living Lunarly: Moon-Based Self-Care for Your Mind, Body, and Soul
Whether we are born in the dark of night or take our first breath with the rays of the morning sun, the moon becomes a part of our lives from our first day.
You may have already cultivated a deep relationship with the moon—perhaps you feel your moods, creativity, sleep cycles, appetite, and inherent wildness rise and fall with her phases. Or you may be more disconnected from her: aware that she lights the night sky, but not intimately involved with her rhythms.
Regardless of your current relationship with the moon, she has always had a relationship with you. The moon is powerful enough to dictate the sleeping, eating, mating, energy, and mood cycles of countless animals on this planet, and dramatically influences the tides of the largest bodies of water on Earth.
This book will help you harness the power of the moon, understand her cycles, get in sync with her rhythm, and develop your own self-care and intention-setting rituals in harmony with that ever-changing sphere.
HOW TO USE THIS BOOK
This book will help you get in alignment with nature, with your desires in life, and—most importantly—with yourself.
By learning about the lunar cycle and how to harness its power, you can elevate your life. This process will help you find clarity, purpose, and fulfillment.
To further supplement your journey and help strengthen your practice as you set, affirm, and manifest your intentions each month, this book has a variety of rituals, self-care practices, and holistic exercises that you can incorporate into your daily life.
You will learn about the power of ritual. You will also learn to create unique rituals that work specifically for you.
You will learn the importance of planting and growing—literally and figuratively—by incorporating houseplants into your space, understanding their influence, and recognizing the growth of your plants and your own growth over time.
You will understand what meditation is (and what it is not) and you will practice different types of meditation.
You will add breathwork to your mental wellness toolbox and learn how to create an environment of peace.
You will create a journaling practice that sharpens your focus, clarifies your goals, strengthens your gratitude, and allows you to get to know yourself more deeply.
You will prioritize your emotional state and become versed in what you need to do to stay emotionally open and available.
You will develop a rich self-care practice. This helps maintain the healthy mindset needed to successfully set and achieve your intentions.
WANING CRESCENT | BEDTIME RITUAL
Your ritual will be unique to you. You may incorporate the following suggestions, in any order, or add your own.
Try 5 minutes of meditation.
Write a nightly entry in a gratitude journal.
Spray calming essential oils—like lavender or frankincense—on your pillow.
Follow a multistep skin-care routine tailored specifically to your skin’s needs.
Perform a hand or foot massage with lotion.
Sip a soothing cup of noncaffeinated or herbal tea—chamomile is great for bedtime.
Spend 10 minutes reading.
Turn on a bedside humidifier.
Listen to meditation music or nature sounds.
Take a series of deep cleansing breaths.
Stretch lightly to prepare your body for bed.
As you practice this routine, you may find that you want to change the order. Continue trying new combinations until you find a routine that makes you feel calm, relaxed, and ready to sleep. Once you solidify the order and items you will include, your routine becomes a ritual. This ritual can be done once or incorporated into your daily life.
